The Lucerne Athletics Club and Swiss Masters Athletics mourn the passing of Kaspar Brunner

An outstanding sports comrade has left us. After countless victories, the strong man could not win his last, suffering fight. Last Tuesday, November 15, he was released from his suffering.
Kaspar Brunner was versatile and involved in many associations. Coming from a national gymnastics background, he discovered Athletics in his senior years and was able to use his immense strength not only in the throws, but also to soar over the high jump bar at the age of 80. Nationally, he won many titles and internationally he participated with success in the Throwing Special Sports World Championships in Tata, Hungary, where he stood several times on all the podiums: especially the Stone Throw, which he knew well from national gymnastics, which was his domain. In classic track and field, he won his last national title in 2018 in the hammer throw in the M85 category. The record lists of Swiss Masters Athletics show his diversity, as he has the best marks in the shot put, hammer throw and javelin in the M80 and in the shot put and hammer throw in the M85 category. Indirectly, Kaspar Brunner also promoted Youth Athletics: He also enjoyed taking part in the annual sportsman awards of the city of Lucerne, where the club receives a considerable financial contribution from the city of Lucerne for the titles won, linked to the promotion of young talent.
Athletics, LC Lucerne and Swiss Masters Athletics lose a great friend in Kaspar Brunner.
